Pleasant Gardens: A Historic Home of Care and Community
Once a beloved summer retreat on Long Island’s South Shore, Pleasant Gardens became an adult home in 1953, carrying forward a legacy of hospitality that dates back to 1787. This historic Bayport property was home to the town’s first hotel and even boasted its first lighted advertising sign!
In 1998, Mercy Haven acquired Pleasant Gardens, transforming it into a place of care, support, and dignity for adults unable to live independently. Today, it provides the highest level of care to 26 residents, with personal care aides on-site 24/7 to assist with meals, cleaning services, and medication management.
Beyond essential care, Pleasant Gardens fosters a vibrant and engaging community. Residents enjoy regular outings for bowling, movies, and shopping trips, while recreation therapists keep them active and socially connected. Many also participate in Mercy Haven’s programs and activities, ensuring they remain engaged and empowered in their daily lives.

My favorite things to do are the trips, like going to the beach or to the Long Island Ducks game. I can’t wait to go again this year!
