Educating and Engaging the Community

At Mercy Haven, we believe that strong, inclusive communities are built through education and engagement. To further our vision of a society where diversity and inclusion are valued, we offer a variety of community education opportunities designed to empower individuals and promote awareness.

We engage with local groups through Mercy Enrichment classes, guest speakers, and outreach programs to share our mission, foster understanding, and inspire action. By being a visible and active presence in the communities we serve, we work to create a more informed, compassionate, and supportive environment for all.

Community Education Programs

Many of the classes and programs offered to Mercy Haven residents through our REAP (Recovery, Enrichment, and Achievement Program) are also available to the broader community. These programs provide valuable skills and resources to promote well-being, financial stability, and personal growth.

  • Health & Fitness Activities – Stay active and maintain overall wellness with yoga, stretching classes, and other movement-based sessions designed to support physical and mental health.

  • Financial Education Workshops – Gain essential financial skills through workshops covering budgeting, debt management, and financial planning, helping participants build a more secure future.

By extending these opportunities to the community, Mercy Haven fosters education, inclusion, and empowerment for all.

Speakers Bureau: Raising Awareness, Inspiring Change

Mercy Haven offers engaging and informative presentations through our Speakers Bureau, bringing together staff members, board members, and volunteers to educate the community about the challenges faced by those we serve. We are available to speak at places of worship, Rotary clubs, Chambers of Commerce, schools, service organizations, and local businesses, fostering meaningful conversations about mental health, homelessness, poverty, and advocacy.

Our goal is to break down stigma and promote understanding and action. Through these discussions, we provide valuable insights on justice for individuals living in poverty, understanding disabilities, and supporting loved ones with special needs. We can create a more informed, compassionate, and inclusive community by working together.
