HUMAN RESOURCES DIRECTOR

 

We are seeking a Human Resources Director whose primary responsibility will be to oversee all human resource functions including the development and support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of the organization.  See below for essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute HR strategies in alignment with business objectives.

  • Guide management on the effective handling of employee relation issues and performance management practices. 

  • Evaluate the HR plan for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the department as well as providing direct reports with professional and personal growth.

  • Create and maintain a positive culture within the agency.

  • Train Supervisors on conducting performance evaluations, disciplinary practices and compliant terminations of employment.

  • Oversee HR files and recordkeeping incorporating all aspects/functionality of the HRIS software.

  • Training and Development - Identify departmental training needs and provide guidance and resources for training.

  • Facilitate all benefit programs. Negotiate contracts with carriers.

  • Manage all leaves of absences, i.e., workers comp, disability, FMLA.

  • Recruiting & Staffing - Identify staffing needs and manage requisition process. Ensure proper FLSA status of positions. Conduct proper background and referral checks.

  • Supervision of HR Assistant and any staff assigned as direct reports

     

    Additional Responsibilities - Be involved with community relations. Attend Board and committee meetings as requested.

     

    Qualifications/Skills/Education

    Bachelor’s Degree in Business/HR - PHR/SPHR a plus

    At least five years experienced in the field of HR

    Background in all areas of employment law

    Experience with employee relations and policies

PERSONAL CARE AIDE – Per Diem

 

Mercy Haven Inc., a non-profit mental health agency, has per diem (as needed) Personal Care Aide positions available at our beautiful adult home in Bayport. Experience preferred, but not necessary - will train. Must have desire to help others! H.S. diploma or GED required and clean driving record.

COUNSELORS - FULL TIME (2 open positions)

Work in our Bay Shore Community Residence assisting residents living with mental illness in the activities for daily living. Salary: $13.75 per hour. Excellent benefits! Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in human services or
  • Associate’s Degree in human services and three years’ experience in human services or
  • High school diploma and five years’ experience in human services

ABOVE REQUIREMENTS ARE PREFERRED, however, High School Diploma

with 2-4 years’ experience in human services will be considered.

  • Experience in the mental health field or related setting
  • Clean Driver’s license
  • CPR & F/A Certificate (required within first three months of employment)
  • Work 4-days/wk on – 3 days/wk off

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the planning/evaluation of individual service plans and monitor plan objectives;
  • Hands on training and assisting residents in the activities for daily living and documenting interaction;
  • Responsible for accompanying residents on recreational outings and travel training exercises;
  • Provide counseling, behavioral intervention and crisis management;
  • Assist in the day-to-day management of the community residence;
  • Responsible for administration of residence in the absence of the Assistant Administrator;
  • Notify the Assistant Administrator/Residential Administrator of any medical/psychiatric emergency;
  • Provide transportation as needed for shopping, medical appointments, etc;
  • Write progress notes on residents’ activities on a daily basis;
  • Monitors management of medication;
  • Involved with cleanliness of residence; Responsible for maintenance and cleanliness of staff office;
  • Advocate for residents’ benefits;
  • Teach residents skills needed to gain independence
  • Coordinate staff contacts with local service providers as needed to assist residents in accessing services and to jointly plan for discharge;
  • Work with support services on behalf of the residents’ best interest;
  • Assist and or model the various techniques required to maintain a clean and healthy living environment;
  • Responsible for other related activities
