In order to further our vision of communities where diversity and inclusion are valued and individuals reach their full potential, Mercy Haven offers a variety of community educational opportunities. From classes at Mercy Enrichment to speakers who visit community groups to explain our mission, Mercy Haven seeks to be a presence to communities in which we live.
Several of the classes and programs we offer to residents through our REAP program are also offered to the community-at-large. These include:
Health & Fitness Activities to help keep participants in good health include yoga and stretching classes.
Financial Education workshops that cover budgeting, debt management and other critical financial skills.
Mercy Haven staff members, board members and volunteers are available to organizations such as places of worship, Rotaries, Chambers of Commerce, schools, service organizations and local businesses to inform and educate community members about the challenges faced by the people we serve. Our goal is to initiate conversations that will mitigate the stigma of mental illness and homelessness and provide ongoing education in the areas of justice for those living in poverty, understanding disabilities, and advocating for loved ones with special needs.
If you have an idea for a community education class or program, or would like a member of Mercy Haven’s Speakers’ Bureau to visit your organization, please contact Christine Cusack at 631-277-8300, or use the form below.
